The used automobiles in this picture are located in Singapore, close to the NUH. The trafic jams of Singapore are a normal condition during rush hours. It makes the driving more fun on the congested highway.

Innovation is an indispensable force that turns ideas into money. It is the lifeblood of any organization. In order to implement sustainable innovation in 2012, you need to define innovation in a manner that makes strategic sense for your organization, and have the know-how to properly construct and use a process, plus the will to keep the process on course.

The task may seem daunting at first, but it’s possible to develop a disciplined strategy that delivers Innovation time and time again for sustained long-term profitability. Make developing that strategy your 2012 New Year’s resolution.

“Robert’s Rules of Innovation” outlines specific steps to implement Innovation. Here are some tips:

1. Define your organization’s needs. What type of innovation are you trying to achieve? An incremental innovation that introduces a new process or feature? Or a transformative breakthrough that completely changes the marketplace? The latter is more difficult to achieve but holds the greatest potential. Choosing the path that makes the most sense for your organization will help in the Innovation process.

2. Formulate a new product development process. Each organization’s NPD process can have a different number of steps, so long as they form a structured plan. A three-stage plan may include: Stage 1 product definition, where a product is examined for its brand strategy, profit potential, and competitive analysis. If the product is a “go” then it moves to Stage 2: the qualification process where a first article product is made and tested for quality assurance. Finally, Stage 3 is Revenue where the product is launched.

3. Create a road map to success. The key elements are examining quality of projects, capability of managing them successfully, and capacity of the organization for maintaining a portfolio of well-managed projects. No matter what NPD process you decide to use, stick to the road map to ensure that each stage, and tasks within each stage, are clearly defined.

4. Some more guidelines for progress: remember to stick to your go/no-go criteria for moving forward with developments. All projects should undergo the same scrutiny, regardless of who suggested it! Also, many organizations are incorporating a “discovery phase” into the Innovation process to allow for more experimentation. This step is beneficial for making decisions based on long-term sustainable Innovation, and not on current budget restraints alone.

In a world of increasing business competition, Innovation is key to a company’s survival. Creating an Innovation strategy that makes sense for your organization is entirely feasible, and an absolute must for creating profit for your company.

I am thinking about using a small linear solenoid to operate the choke on my car. The supplier has two types of linear solenoids, continuous duty and intermittent duty. The intermittent duty has a 25% duty cycle. What does this mean and how does it effect the opperation of the solenoid?

Duty cycle is the length of time it can be operated over a given period.
6 min every hour would be a 10% duty cycle.
It may also be the longest period it can operate constantly, as in a 10 minute duty cycle.

If you want to operate a choke you want a continuous duty.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has a strange relationship with his ex-girlfriends. Many people can’t stand their former partners but The X Factor judge appears to end every relationship on such good terms that he becomes lifelong friends with all of them.

However, one relationship that shows no sign of improving is between two of Simon’s past conquests – 80s pop star Sinitta and former model Jackie St Clair.

Sexy Sinitta was holidaying with 52-year-old Simon in Barbados but decided to jet back to a rainy UK as soon as she found out Jackie would be joining them on the island. The pair first fell out more than 25 years ago and are now said to be barely speaking.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “There is definitely no love lost between Sinitta and Jackie. They don’t see eye to eye and so much has gone on their relationship seems beyond repair.

CRUZEIRO DO SUL – CRUX

O Cruzeiro do Sul, cujo nome em latim é Crux Australis e cujo nome oficial atual é, simplesmente, Crux, é uma das mais importantes das 88 constelações reconhecidas oficialmente pela U.A.I. — União Astronômica Internacional —, apesar de ser a menor de todas elas. Sua área angular é 68 graus quadrados; cerca de 19 vezes menor que a da constelação Hydra, a maior de todas, cuja área é 1303 graus quadrados.
É, também, uma constelação relativamente recente. Quase que completamente ignorada pelas grandes civilizações do passado e mesmo pelos povos europeus até há poucos séculos.
A primeira referência documentada às suas estrelas como representantes de uma cruz encontram-se na Carta de Mestre João de Faras, o Astrônomo Oficial da Esquadra de Cabral. Ele refere-se às estrelas da Cruz, numa carta a Dom Manoel, datada de 1º de maio de 1500. Navegantes da esquadra de Fernão de Magalhães também referiram-se a elas como "O Cruzeiro". Outra referência conhecida é a de Florentino Corsali, que em 1515 refere-se ao Cruzeiro com "Cruz Maravilhosa". O estabelecimento do nome Crux Australis, entretanto, só veio com os trabalhos de Augustim Royer, em 1617, que separou as estrelas do Cruzeiro, definitivamente, do Centauro.
As grandes civilizações do passado, das quais herdamos grande parte de nossas tradições culturais, desenvolveram-se a milhares de anos atrás no hemisfério norte de nosso planeta, próximas ao paralelo de latitude + 40º, conhecido como o "Paralelo das Civilizações". Dessa região, não se pode observar as estrelas que se encontram próximas ao Pólo Celeste Sul, como as do Cruzeiro.
Mesmo quando consideramos o Movimento de Precessão dos Equinócios e os movimentos próprios das estrelas do Cruzeiro, recalculando suas posições para cerca de 5 mil anos atrás, verificamos que elas ainda se encontram bem ao Sul, ficando pouco tempo visíveis para os habitantes daquelas regiões setentrionais. Por isso, mesmo os gregos antigos, que deram nomes a quase todas as outras constelações, não lhe deram muita importância e nem imaginaram uma figura específica com elas.
No hemisfério sul da Terra, ao contrário, o Cruzeiro é facilmente observado, estando suas estrelas entre as mais brilhantes de todo o céu. No Brasil, entre os meses de março e setembro, ele pode ser visto no início das noites de quase todas as regiões. Particularmente nas latitudes próximas do Trópico de Capricórnio (em todo o território do estado São Paulo), entre maio e julho, ele pode ser visto no início da noite, por volta das 20h, bem alto acima do horizonte Sul. Em junho, em latitudes próximas ao Trópico de Capricórnio, nesse horário, olhando em direção ao Sul, mais ou menos a uns 60º de altura, pode-se encontrar com facilidade as 5 estrelas do Cruzeiro, com o braço maior da cruz quase na vertical, apontando para o Ponto Cardeal Sul.
